Obsidian Fleet Code of Justice

The Code of Justice of the Ninth Fleet

  1. The Fleet Law shall apply to all Fleet Members, regardless of rank or position.

  1. The Office of the Judge Advocate-General shall have an overriding duty to enforce the Fleet Law and the principles of fair justice.

  1. The Office of the Judge Advocate-General shall be administered and managed by the Judge Advocate-General, who shall be Head of the Office.

  1. The Judge Advocate-General shall have authority to issue standing instructions and orders to regulate the powers, duties and responsibilities of the Office, subject to this Code and the Fleet Constitution.

  1. The internal procedures, discussions and workings of the Office (including its Courts) are private and may not be violated without the consent of the Judge Advocate-General.

  1. Permanent officers of the Office may only be removed from office for gross professional misconduct, unexplained continued absence or upon conviction of a Standard Offence.  This does not affect the powers under Section 2 above.  Permanent officers of the Office are appointed by the Joint Fleet Command on the recommendation of the Judge Advocate-General.

  1. Advocates of the Fleet may be appointed after a suitable training program has been conducted and nominees assessed.  The status, powers and duties of Advocates shall be determined by the Judge Advocate-General.

  1. The Judge Advocate-General shall be the senior judicial officer of the Fleet and the President of its Courts and may delegate responsibility for hearing and ruling on cases and making orders to other permanent officers as he thinks fit.

  1. Investigations be carried out under the authority of the Joint Fleet Command, unless the Judge Advocate-General deems the matter to be minor or that the Joint Fleet Command has a conflict of interest, in which case the Office has the authority to commence an investigation.

  1. The Code of Justice may be amended by the Fleet Council upon the recommendation of the Judge Advocate-General.
