Okay, seriously, where is this year going? It feels like only yesterday I was throwing out New Years messages, and now we’re nearly a quarter of the way in! But I’m rambling. This month is going to be a load of stuff and just a general summary really.

You know the layout by now;

1.Introduction
2.Task Force Summary
3.Awards
4.Sum Up
5.Open Positions

So, let’s get into it.

Task Force Summary

Total Number of Ships: 23
Number of Ships with CO’s: 16
Number of Active Sims: 16
Ships that Did Not Submit Reports: 1
Number of Open Commands: 7

We’ve seen a new addition to the CO this month, in the form of a returning CO for the USS Merlin. So welcome back to Commander John Barstow. Aside from that, we’ve been working with our new SSCO to try to give him the preparation he needs if he is to become TGCO. However, this is an ongoing process so I will not be commenting any further on that at this time.

But you don’t care about this stuff. Well, maybe the Barstow bit.

You’re here for the next part!

This month saw the release of EoY awards for 2017. All of these were voted on by various departments (i.e. Fleet Council for CO of the year, CO’s for XO of the year). We saw multiple nominations from TF47, and it makes me extremely proud that Commander Tyler Malbrook of the Pioneer was one of the CO’s to claim CO of the year! I’d also like to congratulate Captain Malcom Llwyedd of the Firebird for being nominated for CO of the year, and Lieutenant Yara Blackwater of the Valkyrie for placing an extremely close second on XO of the year. You should all be proud purely for being nominated. Well done!

Now, of course, we need to get to monthly awards. The UoM’s. I received two nominations this month, and you know what? I’m feeling generous and they’re sims and Commanders I’ve got a hell of a lot of respect for, so I will be awarding both sims with the UoM. Of course, in terms of who takes the gold, as they say in Highlander, in the end, there can be only one!

So, here are the Uom’s for February 2018:

Silver: USS Sarek: “This sim flew under my radar since joining Obsidian Fleet. Since becoming SSCO I took it upon myself to start reading posts from all the sims in the Task Group. When I got to the Sarek all I could say was WOW. There are some amazing writers there. These writers have created an extremely diverse crew. Under Captain H’Rhar’s leadership the plots have a realistic quality and are at time poignant. They recently had a wedding for example. I really cannot say enough about the Sarek, other than checking that sight and reading the posts has become a highlight for me since becoming SSCO.” (Commander Tyler Malbrook, SSCO, TG47-C)

Gold: USS Camelot – “Captain Hurin has shown that he can make anything happen. I have to say that the crew he has assembled on the Camelot is exemplary and you’d almost never know that they were going through a major change from a base to a ship because the energy and creativity has never wavered. They have done a fine job of showing the rest of us how it’s done.” (Captain Brett Watson, TGCO, TG47-B)

As ever, congratulations one and all for your nominations and awards this month, and well done to everyone for dishing out some brilliant writing.

So, now, what else is there?

There’s something, I have to be forgetting something…

Nope, can’t think of anything.

So, the conclusion.

We’re moving forward. We’re in a comfortable position as a Task Force, and I look forward to continuing to see growth as we move through 2018.

Now, the other bit you’re here for.
