Task Force 72 October 2018 Report

Rain, rain, go away…damn…didn’t work. It’s settled into Fall here in the Pacific Northwest and that means short days, chilly nights, and all the coffee you can dream of. Task Force 72 managed another successful month navigating the changes to the fleet structure, negotiating the new CO training system, and hunkering down for the holiday season.

Task Force Status

No new sims this month, but we did the departure of the USS Orion from the fleet. We wish the players of the Orion our best and hope they thrive in their new environment. This month saw the reduction of Task Force sizes. What does this mean? For starters it’s part of a larger shift in emphasis from recruiting COs to strengthening our existing simulations. As noted by my report and my counterpart’s last month, our medium is a niche one and we must recognize the changing demographic landscape and story-telling avenues available to players.

Outward appearances aside, I believe these new numbers are a great equilibrium for our Task Forces – it’s easier for our TGCOs to offer personalized attention and makes it easier for us to spotlight our simulations for recruiting purposes. We will also be shuffling some of the Task Force 72 sims around to maintain our balance of simulation types just as we did several months ago. Your TGCOs and the TFXO will be in touch this month to provide details on the arrangements and when you can expect the site to be updated.

Awards

We had some exciting cross-TG nominations this month, and it looks like one simulation in particular stood out with another distinguishing itself through a rather large shakeup.

USS Cassiopeia:

USS Cassiopeia hasn’t got the numbers of other ships but it has a standard that had risen more and more each month. They are created their own signature style. I feel as a TGCO privileged that the CO allows me to write there.

Actually firing my Nomination over to Cassiopeia. I took a look through the sims this month, and I’ll be honest, their activity and quality of posting looks amazing. I think they honestly deserve some recognition for the effort they are putting in. So if anyone is going to get my vote this month, it is them!

USS Rhea

The Rhea has undergone a shift from the USS Yorktown, and the CO has handled it with aplomb. Changing websites and getting everyone on board can be a chore, but the CO has done a good job keeping people up to speed and setting up a darn good plot. Well done.

Closing

All in all, good job to everyone here. Every sim, across every report is doing well, and the participation in the Fleet discord is always an encouraging sight. I hope everyone will continue to reach out to one another and support each other as players and COs as we head into the winter months.
