Happy New Year everyone! It seems that 2019 is getting off to a great start here in Obsidian Fleet with the various announcements. Not the least of which being Project Khitomer. As with the rest of the fleet the Academy has some announcements as well. There are a few things to touch on this month and I don’t want to take up too much of your time as I am sure you would rather be simming than reading reports. And so, without further gilding the lily, and with no more ado let’s get to it.
Course Rewrites
The first piece of news is the launch of Command Academy. The new Command Academy is live on IFS and ready to go. This course is a self guided course designed for someone to take at their own pace and on their own time. The launch of this course means that applications for Commands are reopened and we are ready to take on students. So, if you would like to take the center seat on the bridge then get the application in. As Director of the Academy I would like to invite any and all current Commanding Officers to take the course. Should you choose to take the course your input on the new format would be most appreciated. We are always looking to improve. The next hurdle for the Academy is the Cadet Academy. A preliminary rewrite for this course has been submitted to the Fleet Council and is under review as we speak. Our goal is to roll this course out within the first quarter of this year. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you for bearing with us here at the Academy as we work our way through the long and arduous process of rewriting all of the courses.
Candidates
I would like to congratulate Ira Skovgaard the Commanding Officer of Deep Space 7 also in Task Force 47 on their completion of COAL. They have the distinction of being the last person to take the COAL. With the completion comes a promotion to Commander. So please join me congratulating Commander Skovgaard. I have no doubt that we will see some big things from Deep Space 7 in the future. There are currently no candidates enrolled in the new Command Academy.
