Task Force 47 Report – March 2020

Hello OF! Who writes the report writes the facts. But bad news everyone. Because guess who, ha!

Yeah, that wasn’t my best joke ever. Do over?

I’m back baby!

That’s better. Short, sweet and to the point.

Now, before I go into this month’s report, I’d like to apologise for the lack of one last month. Some real life matters came up which diverted me from fleet matters and I ended up taking what I feel to be an inexcusable amount of personal time, for which I apologise. Thank you to those who helped pick up the slack, particularly Sepandiyar, who stepped back in with negligible comment on how involved to get with his old Task Force and even less suggestion of when I would return. I apologise for this, my friend, and would like to express my sincerest thanks for your help.

With that being said, let’s get into it.

•Total Sims: 16
•Sims with CO’s: 10
•Open Commands: 6

The Task Force has primarily ticked over these last couple of months. We do currently have one CO on an LOA, and I remain in touch with their XO on the status of the sim. So to the members of that sim, you are not forgotten and please don’t think you are. I’d also like to extend an invitation to anyone who has any concerns to drop me a line, we’ll see if we can’t put them at ease, or maybe even solve the problem.

On that note, our open commands are as follows:

•USS Arcadia (Odyssey Class)
•USS Centaurus (Galaxy Class)
•USS Cross (Insignia Class)
•USS Hercules (Prometheus Class)
•USS Livingstone (Nebula Class)
•USS Schrodinger (Merian Class)

If you wish to apply for any of these commands, you can go here (please make sure you’re logged into the OF site when you do), or if you wish to simply discuss the possibility of taking one of these commands, or that of another class, you can either email me at [email protected] or hit me up on discord, which oftentimes is the faster method.

Anyway, it’s awarding time!

I’m sorry, lockdown has done nothing to improve my humour.

Drum roll please…

“This month I would like to nominate SS Fawkes for UOM. One of the great things that has come out the Task Group reshape is that I have been introduced to some great sims and some great stories. The crew of the Fawkes remind me of one of my favourite non-Star Trek shows with their writing. Perhaps the ship will become a leaf on the wind. (A hint to the show that I am referring to). Gripping stories, and top notch writing one could not ask for much more from a sim. It has become a highlight of my week to read what the crew of the Fawkes has been up to. Keep it up. Bravo!” (Tyler Malbrooke, TGCO, 47-C)

So well done to the crew of the Fawkes, I know when I went to review some of your work, I just couldn’t bring myself to stop reading. Bravo indeed!

Now, I’m almost done waffling and rambling here. However, before I sign off, I’d just like to say this of the current state of things:

I hope everyone is staying safe in these uncertain times. I know it’s difficult. I know people are scared. But we have to believe it will get better. Because if we didn’t believe that, we wouldn’t be here. A love of Star Trek and writing brought us all together, and Star Trek is, at its heart, about the good that Ladies, Gentlemen and invited Transgendered species do. It’s about hope for the future. So, everyone, please, make sure you’re looking after yourselves in all of this mess. If you hold any kind of religious beliefs, spare a thought in your prayers for those out dealing with these issues, trying to keep civilisation intact. They are the heroes in all of this and deserve far more thanks than any of us can possibly give. They are keeping things going so that we can keep going with the hobby we love, and we owe it to them to do a damned good job of it!

I’ll leave you with these parting words. May Riker’s beard look favourably upon you. Stay safe everyone.
