In an announcement today, Starfleet Command, Earth, has ordered all Normandy class carriers to report back to the Sol sector for an extended refit. Federation news sources have quoted Admiral du Lac, currently on board the USS Ascension, as saying:
“For the most of the past decade the 9th Fleet has been used extensively for helping the Romulans police their space, evac and rebuild their Empire. Now the Romulans are standing on their own two feet and repatriating their population it’s time to start showing them that the 9th Fleet means business. The recall of the Normandy class carriers is the first step of a fleet modernisation program which will demonstrate Starfleet’s intent and show the Romulans we are committed to the protection of our adjoining borders and furthering our goal of exploring the frontier”
