Good [insert greeting appropriate for time of day] fellow Obsidianites (is that what we call ourselves? We’ll workshop this…),

With the reshuffling of some roles in the different Task Forces, Departments and even the Joint Fleet Command, I have been asked to step in and take on the exciting challenges waiting for us in the Obsidian Fleet Academy. Thank you Travani Dal, for your hard work as an Academy Director, your tireless effort in guiding our new players through all of the training, and trusting me to take over this very well developed place!

Why did they pick me? Good question. I’ve asked myself this numerous times as well. Well, I’ve worked with the former Director and helped develop the Cadet training course as well as provided input in the different other training courses available already on the Academy. So this is my first point of business as an Academy Director, please come take a look at our Cadet Academy (for new players), XO Academy (for first officers, old and new alike), the CO Academy (for those interested in creating and running their own game)!

Updates

As the more perceptive of you might have realised, we’ve updated the titles in the Academy to be more prepared for the expansion of, especially, Specialist Courses. With the new title structure we hope to be able to keep a clear overview of all the different available courses that you can enroll into (and the ones you’ve already finished).

Specialist Courses

The above point already mentioned the Specialist Courses. It’s been a long standing desire to offer a variety of Specialist courses as part of the Academy, and it’s my goal to help make this dream a reality! But I can’t do it all on my own, so if you have a great interest in one of the departments (Security, Medical, Engineering, etc), or in teaching people in an online environment, then don’t hesitate to contact me directly!

As of this writing, we already have one speciality course available, and that’s the Marine Course! Have you always wanted to know what it takes to play a Marine, then enroll today!

Congratulations

I would like to congratulate Commander Joshua A. Culver, the Commanding Officer of the USS Archimedes in Task Force 47 on their completion of Command Academy. I’ve seen what you have planned for the ship, the stories, and your own character and I can’t wait to see all that come to fruition! Exciting times ahead for the little Nova class!

That’s all she wrote

I’m taking a page out of the book from the former Academy Director and end on a nice little one liner filled with inspiration:

“The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you.”

Until next time,

Kayim Falor
