Place of Origin: Andor
Played by: njessa-azjure
Slim with a gymnast’s build, she bursts with potential energy and has trouble (even now) just keeping still. She wearer her hair in a tight braid held with a set of titanium alloy pins. Her uniform is always precise and neat, on duty she wears a satchel of tools and other useful things over one shoulder and she always has a tricorder and datapad close to hand. She always wears boots with magnetic clamps built in after a practical joke was played on her as a cadet.
Driven to be her best and to represent the best of Andor to the Federation and beyond. She has bent her live so far about achieving her current position in Star Fleet and she is only now beginning to think about longer term plans. Once she sets her mind to a task, she focuses on it intently, occasionally to the point of ignoring other problems, but she has gotten better about that.
Always interested in Star Fleet, where several of her ancestors had served, she was galvanized by the visit of the USS Andor to Andor just before she graduated high school and the fine example that Njessa Azjure, the Andor Operations officer, presented. By hard work she was one of the, large, Andorian contingent to Star Fleet Academy that year.
She dove into the Academy feet first, and was an extremely hard working and conscientious cadet. Though she was not as good at socializing as some other cadets. She clicked with the Operations Network (“OpNet”) and corresponds with operations officers across the fleet (and even a few outside).
She has never really tried to build relationships deeper than friendship, she is not sure if she has any romance in her soul. So far she has not met anyone who made her think of such things.
StarFleet Service History
She constantly scored on the upper third of most of her classes though never quite at the top. She excelled as a generalist.
Due to the continuing lack of personnel, given her focus on efficiency and attention to detail, Sayffier was assigned to a small team of technical experts that moved from base to base, ship to ship, installing high priority upgrades on computer systems (and to a lesser extend sensor and communications systems) across the fleet . Often, these upgrades were preformed in transit adding an additional level of stress. This led to a high turnover of personnel in the team but Njalia thrived and after a year was the de facto leader of the team. She would likely still be assigned to that task if not for the incident on Starbase 12 which earned her a sealed commendation and a new post.
Having no wish to serve on base duty, though Starbase 12 offered her a post, she has been seeking something aboard a starship. Somewhere she can settle for a while and work out what her future holds. She was surprised, and pleased, to be assigned to the USS Vesta.

Place of Origin: Okanawa, Japan, Earth
Played by: prenar
Michael is tall and lanky. He is in good shape for his age although there is no muscle to be seen. He is of moderate strength. His intelligence however is through the roof. Due to his intelligence he has a tendency to look down on others. He has the eye shape and cheek bones of his heritage.
Michael frequently shows off his cunning and biting wit, and enjoys picking people apart and turning peoples weaknesses into a learning experience for them. Michael accurately deduces people’s motives and histories from aspects of their personality, appearance, and behavior. His friends and colleagues say that while some doctors have the “Messiah complex” (they need to “save the world”), Michael has the “Rubik’s complex” (he needs to “solve the puzzle”).
Michael was born on June 11th 2354 in Okanawa, Japan, Earth. He was the youngest of four children. His father was a general doctor, who specialized in internal medicine and his mother was physicist. Both had dizzying intellects so his childhood was very competitive.
Growing up Michael lived in two worlds in a way. To his parents he was the golden boy. Not only did he have the genius intellect, but he was the youngest and he could do no wrong. He excelled at the sciences and in the medical field, it seemed that he indeed got the best of both of his parents. To everyone else he was just a cantankerous youth who was angry at the entire galaxy for reasons unknown.
He was a bookish child wanting to keep his nose in the book studying rather than going outside to play. In fact he read anatomy books as a way to have fun. He had two close friends that he was fiercely loyal to and they in turn were loyal to him. He avoided social situations for the most part viewing them to be trivial and of no consequence. Michael’s childhood reputation was that he was the “fixer.” If you had an issue or a problem that needed solving he was the man to see.
In the year 2364 when he was 10 years old Michael’s life was changed forever. His father, who he looked up to more than most, changed jobs. His father went from being a local doctor and home for the most part, to the director of neurology at Starfleet Medical in San Francisco. His father commuted to and from work and due to this was not around for much of the rest of Michael’s childhood. Michael vowed that he would always put his family first when it came down to it.
Michael’s first love was a girl in junior high school. Her name was Shoshanna and she was very much like him, an outcast. She was not very well liked because of the way she acted to most other kids, she would treat others like she was better than them. That is until she met her match in Michael, the two taught each other many things. Among them was she taught him the ability to treat people more than the sum of their parts and he in turn taught her how to be more down to earth. Michael stayed out of trouble through his childhood, learning very quickly how to ignore remarks or respond to them with remarks of his own in kind. He developed the ability in junior high school to turn people’s weaknesses into a learning experience for them.
Michael’s largest aptitude seemed to be medicine. However, it was in the diagnostic field of medicine. He loved the mystery that incurable diseases presented and relished in solving them. He learned not only how the body worked, but how it reacted to diseases. Once he mastered the human body he moved on to other species, such as Vulcans, Andorians etc…
His general schooling went by basically uneventful. That is to say he experienced nothing that a normal boy did not do or experience. He graduated High School as the Valedictorian, which was no surprise to anyone due to his grades and his excelled classes. His grades earned him a spot at Starfleet Academy. This was what Michael wanted, as he wanted to get away from the bonds that Earth presented for him. His parents were not fond of this as they wanted him to become a local doctor like his father and settle down.
His years at the Academy were some of the best of his life. It was here that he met his best friend Walter Kaedle. Walter was a Sciences major and the two hit it off. Mike centered Walter and made him concentrate on his studies and in turn Walter caused Michael to loosen up. The two became practical jokers and were issued a formal reprimand for a joke that they pulled on the Commandant of the Academy. It was to be the only blemish on Michael’s otherwise stellar record.
Michael graduated Starfleet Academy in the year 2376 as Valedictorian, and was granted the rank of Ensign. While at the academy he majored in molecular biology. He was immediately transferred to Starfleet Medical to enroll in medical school, seeking his MD. He majored in Diagnostic Medicine, with a sub-specialty in Emergency Medicine. It was the diagnostics that appealed to him the riddles of disease he called them. His years at Starfleet Medical were uneventful, however, Michael resented the place as he was constantly referred to as the junior Dr Ki as his father worked there.
At the age of 26 Michael graduated medical school and was given his first deep space assignment. This assignment was to serve as the young doctor’s residency. This assignment was to the USS Rhode Island as a Medical Officer. The now Ensign Ki did not make many friends on the Rhode Island however, he was respected the man could diagnose anything in less than a hour for most cases. The medical crew aboard the Rhode Island went as far as challenging Michael to beat the EMH in treating patients and Michael won by a landslide.
In the year 2382 Dr Ki, as he preferred to be called, was transferred to the USS Poseidon to serve as a Medical Officer and the Ship’s Surgeon. His department chief was a Vulcan, who’s father suffered from Bendii Syndrome. Michael regarded the Vulcan in very high esteem and used all of his free time as well as his degree in molecular biology to attempt to cure Bendii Syndrome. Michael’s research into this disease continues to this day and he is convinced that he will find a cure. While he did not find a cure he did find a suitable treatment.
In the year 2386 the Poseidon was sent to Draven IV to assist in a severe outbreak of the Endozian Flu. Ki quarantined himself, purposely infecting himself with the disease on the planet. While there he used his own infected blood to develop a cure and vaccine for future use. He is promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade for his act of heroism.
At the age of 37 he is transferred to the USS Washington to serve as the Assistant Chief Medical Officer. It was here that he began to learn how to command and manage a department. He especially learned how to set aside his general misanthropic views in order to get along with people.
A year and a half into his service aboard the Washington the ship’s Captain was stricken with a disease that was previously unknown to science. Dr Ki put his degree in diagnostics to good use and figured out that the disease was one that infected the blood. The red blood cells were exploding in the Captain’s vessels. Michael instituted immediate transfusions and eventually cured the disease. He named it after it’s first patient, and thusly Hemocefjim was born.
Michael loved serving on the Washington, however, Starfleet interfered in that happiness as it often does. In 2395 he is transferred to the USS Merlin to serve as the Chief Medical Officer. He is more curious than happy about this transfer.
While serving aboard the Merlin Michael learned that there was a lot more to life then curing illnesses and healing people. He met the first woman that he truly loved. His courtship with Caroline was a whirlwind and just when he thought he had the nerve to ask her to marry him, the fleet had other plans. Michael was ordered transferred to the USS Athena. Rather than live apart Michael ended the most meaningful relationship he ever had to put duty before his wants.

Place of Origin: Cardassian
Played by: matt-davis
He is very pale, even by Cardassian standards, with the broad neck and shoulders as well as the reptilian skin of his people. He would look like any other Cardassian except for the brilliant green eyes. The doctors on Cardassia Prime called his eyes a genetic defect. But ever since he left he has rather enjoyed this one defining characteristic. Hadir also has a scar that runs along his left cheek
Hadir is rough around the edges and suspicious of everyone, just as everyone is suspicious of him. He is loyal to fault once someone has earned his loyalty and friendship. Thus far he is loyal to Starfleet and it’s people. As no one has shown him any compassion except for Starfleet. Hadir has a photographic memory and is uniquely adept at languages which comes from not only his Mind Training but from his innate abilities as a Cardassian. Hadir wanted to become the first Cardassian in Starfleet, which he achieved. Now he wants nothing more than to prove that not all Cardassians are liars, he for one is loyal to a fault. He now wants to become the first Cardassian Captain in Starfleet. Hadir spends his time studying ancient Earth history. Particularly the periods known as the Dark Ages and the Renaissance. He is also a Jazz trained Trombonist, and he practices the loxKardasia or the Cardassian martial arts.
He has PTSD from the things that he saw being done to Bajorans. He likes to make wise cracks to lighten the mood in certain situations. He prefers the lighting to be dim and the temperature to be around 90 degrees. He also has a head full of secrets and is working through his problems with counselors.
Hadir was born in May of 2353 on Cardassia Prime. He grew up on Cardassia Prime and was groomed to join the Obsidian Order. He had a typical Cardassian childhood focusing on military tactics. This upbringing included the standard mind training. In 2359 he graduated from the Primary School his Te’alakesh (teacher) identify him to be suitable for the Obsidian Order. He is entered into a Secondary School for this purpose. Hadir was an intense child as being the son of a military man will cause one to be. His mother was a farmer and a homemaker.
When he was 10 years old they came to take his molar out. The molar is to be used for identification purposes and is a standard rite of passage into adulthood for all Cardassians. However, Hadir hated it and his father had to force him to submit to it.
The rest of his adolesence was standard as Cardassian childhoods went. Hadir had little friends and fewer mates as he got older. This was due to the color of his eyes, which was believed to be a birth defect.
In 2368 when Hadir was 15 his father was promoted to Gul of the Obsidian Order, replacing Enabran Tain when Tain retired from that post. Hadir graduated from Secondary school and was assigned as Gul’s Assistant, helping his father in all functions. All the while being groomed to replace his father when the time was right.
Shortly thereafter Hadir began to witness the atrocities being done to Bajorans by his people. At first he tried to tell himself that this was for the betterment of Cardassia, and that Bajorans were lesser beings. But that never took in his head and he couldn’t buy that. It wasn’t until he saw a Leget threatening to kill to Bajaoran children whose only crime was bumping into him that Hadir decided to get involved. He stopped the Leget and got a scar on his face for his troubles.
Hadir ran into the Bajoran underground to hide from the wrath of his father. It was here that he met some Bajorans in the Ornathis Resistance Cell. Hadir volunteered to help the cell in any way he could. In return the Bajoans will hide him from his father and the order. It is here that Hadir finished out the berth of the Dominion War.
In 2370 the Federation arrived at Deep Space Nine at the behest of the new Bajoran Provisional Government, Hadir is still in hiding on Bajor and is now viewed as a traitor to Cardassia. However, with the encouragement of the Bajorans Hadir met with some officers from Starfleet, he told the officers what was on his concience and the attrocities. The Starfleet officers agreed to put Hadir in touch with the Cardassian Liberation Front. They told Hadir that if he wanted to help Cardassia then he needed to fight with his people and free Cardassia from the Dominion.
In secret Hadir traveled to Cardassia Prime and met with some representatives of Leget Damar. He is deemed to be trustworthy and with the amount of tactical knowledge he has Hadir is given missions to strike against the Dominion. Hadir served the rebellion with distinction.
When the Dominion is forced from Cardassia Hadir decided to apply to join Starfleet. As the urge to explore the stars was moving him. When his application is recieved by Starfleet command it is deemed that allowing him enterance into the academy would be holding true to the new treaty with Cardassia and so in 2377 at the age of 24 Hadir Prenar became the first Cardassian in Starfleet.
He completed his four years in the Academy with relative ease and graduated with honors. He focused his schooling on Tactics and Intelligence gathering as that played to his stronger suits. He had few friends in the Academy most of friends that he did have were human and klingon. Hadir made an effort to steer clear of Bajorans whenever possible. He felt too guilty on behalf of his people.
Upon graduation the new Ensign Prenar is assigned to the Starfleet Diplomatic Corps to assist in the cultural differences with Cardassia. It is at this point that Hadir learned that his father survived the war and the rebellion and is in hiding somewhere.
In 2384 the stars were calling and Hadir asked for and is granted a transfer to the USS Ticonderoga to serve as the Deputy Chief of Security. On an away mission Hadir is assigned to protect the Captain. The Captain was in a negotiation with a hostile people. Captain Jenkins was attempting to negotiate passage through their space. Hadir noticed a small twitch in the alien’s eye which told him that the alien was about to attack. Hadir leaped into action saving the life of his Captain and took a phaser blast to the shoulder for his trouble. While laying on the ground he smiles at the Captain and says sorry for ruining your negotiation. Hadir is promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade for his actions.
Hadir’s time on the Ticonderoga is storied as he waded through human interactions. He even had a short dalliance with a Chief Warrant Officer from the Science Department. She was the only human woman that Hadir ever met that could be a match for a Cardassian. Alas after a short interlude duty called and Hadir was transferred to the USS Tudor to be the Chief Tactical Officer of that vessel.
Hadir is known as a fierce friend and one who would continue to risk his life for those that need it. Over the next years he focused on his work and duty all the while missing the only love of his life. The promotions came as did the accolades. Prenar was proving to Starfleet that he was an incredible asset.
Then in 2394 the day finally came. Hadir was called into Captain Tompkins Ready Room aboard the USS Tudor. It was here that the Captain congratulated Hadir on his promotion to Executive Officer and handed him his new orders. Hadir Prenar was ordered to Empok Nor for service aboard the USS Fearless as Captain Vela’s Executive Officer. Hadir thought while staring at the PADD this couldn’t be right, but here it is signed by the Fleet Admiral.
He smiled as he walked from the Ready Room, it seemed that he would be going home again, back where it all began…
While engaged in battle with the True Way the USS Fearless was destroyed. In the aftermath of the destruction her crew was reassigned. It is decided that Hadir made a crucial poor decision that led to the destruction of the ship. He is demoted in rank to Lieutenant. The demotion came as there was no loss of life in the destruction. Those closest to Hadir know that this was not his fault and was merely the powers that be in the fleet making him a scapegoat.
Lieutenant Prenar is assigned as Chief Tactical Officer aboard the USS Posiedon and as an liaison to the crew of Empok Nor. The Poseidon’s Captain did not like having a Cardassian serve under him and made sure Hadir was transferred as soon as possible. He only served about two years before being reassigned to the USS Eagle. It is here that Hadir hopes his life can finally begin.

Place of Origin: Betazoid/Human
Played by: matt-davis
Has much of the genetic expression from her father’s mostly African earther heritage, and the black betazoid eyes of her mother. Is a little on the taller side of average for a human woman. She dresses simple and smart when not in uniform, preferring practical wear or active wear. She won’t be caught dead in impractical shoes, even for fancy events.
Although she smiles easily and seems both confident and comfortable, she always looks like she’s looking for angles and observing everything.
Sibyl’s childhood centered around life aboard the freighter “Third Noon” where she was primarily raised by her human father and the small crew that operated more or less like a family. Her Betazoid birth mother gave up custody to her human Father when she was too young to remember. Her mother doesn’t stay in touch very much, seeming to focus on other life and new family and other than occasional well wishing, Sybyl is alright with the arrangement.
She was very content with life aboard the freighter. Her father included her in almost anything in the business and operations, such that the crew treated her with deference as well. She didn’t grow up around a lot of other kids so although she was naturally enough playful and inquisitive, she also took on a very responsible and ambitious adult personna from a very young age.
Although there were many amazing sights to see, cultures to engage with and business transactions to learn, Sibyl had a lot of time on her hands aboard ship and spent much of it reading and researching and filling her mind. She was often preparing for the next world they were travelling to, learning about the language, customs, and history, and preparing to visit. Sibyl maintains a detailed and lengthy log of all of her experiences abroad to this day, one which she began alongside her father as soon as she could talk into the computer.
She prefers reading classics, non fiction, and biographies and was largely self educated through application and experience and satiating curiosity. Her father had her prep for and take exams for educational credit and she found them none to difficult. She also learned to read technical manuals, observed ship mechanics and assisted, and as a teen was trained to pilot the delivery shuttle pods. She was a versatile and valued member of the crew of the Third Noon. They were broken hearted when she decided to apply for Starfleet training instead of staying on with them.
Although she killed it in the academics department at Academy, she felt like a duck out of water socially. She opted for training in tactics and political sciences and made an effort to improve her skills physically, joining track and putting in time on the phaser range, hoping to round herself out as more than just a brainy kid and become a capable officer in the general Security and Tactical track. Also Sibyl discovered that the more activities she could fill her schedule with, the less awkward it would be trying to fit in with everyone else.
During her first shipboard assignment Sibyl got into a whirlwind romance and marriage to Cliff Bowen, a fellow security officer. Cliff was not a complicated man and wasn’t climbing any career ladders very fast. Nothing like Sibyl’s ambitions.
They served together, until she was promoted more quickly and moved up. She and Cliff had a difficult time making their professional lives work together and became distanced.
