Skot is rugish in appearance. Having short hair and a thin beard, he takes pride in his appearance. People often lose themselves in his deep grey eyes, or are unsettled when his eyes fall upon them. He sports several tattoos under his uniform, something he likes to show off in his free time. He keeps his uniform clean and straight but finds it constricting at times and tends to wear it in a slightly more casual manner.
Skot has an air of confidence about him, often believing that he has to do a job because someone else might have gotten it wrong. He lives his life by the saying “walk softly but carry a big stick.” He understands that the diplomatic approach is often the best approach, but is always ready to throw the first punch when diplomacy fails. He values the opinions of others no matter the rank or station of the individual. He tries to make up for his mistakes, and steadfastly works for the benefit of the crew rather than himself.
Skot was born on August 4, 2366 at Starfleet Medical in San Francisco. He grew up in Starfleet as his mother was an engineer and the family followed her from posting to posting when they could. He spent most of his young life on Starbase 243 on the Cardssian border. The Starbase was not the best place for a young person to grow up as adult supervision was few and far between. It’s during this time that Skot learned how to take care of himself, oftentimes having to out think the local bullies on the station rather than out fight them, a skill that would aid him greatly later in life. In school, Skot was an average student. When he turned 18, it seemed like Starfleet was a natural choice for Skot.
The first year of the academy was rough for Skot as he spent that year bouncing between majors. When it came time to start the second year, one of Skot’s instructors noticed his attention to detail and how he always seemed to out think his opponents during his exams. That instructor recommended him to switch over to Strategic Operations which turned out to be a great fit for the young cadet. Skot spent the next three years learning everything there was to learn about being a great Strategic Ops officer From learning about how logistics work to learning how to spot the pattern of enemy movements. Graduation saw Skot’s family extremely proud of the now ensign, his mother even called in some favors to get him his first assignment.
Skot’s first posting was on the aging Miranda Class USS Rodney as a support officer for the Strategic Ops Officer onboard. He enjoyed the posting but grew bored as the head of the department felt that she had to do everything herself because she did not trust anyone else to do the jobs that were assigned. After a year on the Rodney, Skot transferred to a more active region of space. Now the Assistant Strategic Ops Officer on Deep Space 3, Skot began to actually learn what strategic ops meant and did in the larger picture with his boss taking the young ensign under her wing. His time on DS3 saw Skot promoted to Lieutenant JG in his first year on station and later to Lieutenant on his boss’s recommendation when she was promoted to Commander and XO of the station with Skot taking over her duties as head of the department. One of the hardest things he ever did was to tell his mentor that he had accepted a position on the USS Arcadia as one of the ship's Strategic Ops officers.
