USS Defiant 6/2 Report
Unlike last month, we actually have what is possibly an extreme amount to report!
On a unanimous decision by the command crew, and approved by the crew, we have decided to undergo a full fledged reboot of the Defiant sim. Defiant is rolling back the clock to the beginning for a fresh launch from spacedock with a fresh premise. The reason for this was multi-fold, but it was ultimately decided that this was likely in the best interest of the sim long term, while granting a great deal of new writing opportunity in the short term.
As such, there is a ton of changes taking place on Defiant. We are revamping everything from the rules to the award structure we will use. Our XO is hard at work completing a custom skin specifically for Defiant, and I am currently updating wording across the site to reflect the tweaked premise. There will likely be many new tweaks to report over the coming month, but essentially we are in the middle of a full fledged update.
Interestingly, this is the stable part. Our current crew roster is as follows:

We have a new premise:
The year is 2263.
The Federation is in the process of remodeling itself. After the shocking loss of Vulcan and the defensive militarism caused by Nero's attack, the UFP is pulling itself back toward the idealistic and peaceful goals of its original mission. Starfleet has made a renewed effort to put exploration and diplomatic outreach as its primary goals and has christened several new ships under that banner. Settling into an uneasy calm with its Romulan and Klingon neighbors, the Federation is looking to find new frontiers.
The USS Defiant is unique among its Constitution-class brethren, boasting a modular design which allows her to be outfitted for a variety of mission profiles. Assigned to the fledgling Starbase Arcadia, the Defiant must help the Federation establish roots in this far flung frontier, serving as one of the only Iines of defense for the unfinished station and the main means of diplomatic outreach to its neighbors. Defiant plays a vital role in supporting Starfleet’s expansion, shaping the political landscape of the region, and exploring the uncharted systems of the region. Along the way, the crew is going to carry out Starfleet’s Mission: seeking out new life and new civilizations as they boldly go where no one has gone before.
It is not a very big departure from previously, but we have moved to earlier in the development of our backdrop Starbase. We've also decided to take on a larger world building focus. The crew will have a say in which races will be major powers in the region we are in, and our story will focus on Defiant's efforts to forge alliances and secure the station's needs. The modular nature of Defiant in this reboot does not have a particularly large impact on the ships function. However, it allows a good excuse for visits to Arcadia to reconfigure the ship, and allows the ship to be outfitted for numerous missions such as specific scientific outings, civilian transport, or if needed cargo runs. (Has no effect on tactical capabilities)
