The chaos on Firste had finally settled.  Following the ‘Day of Sorrows’ as it had been come to be known, the once prosperous world had ground to a halt.  The global EMP which had destroyed the communications network during the revolution had also destroyed the rest of their technology. Their space fleet, advanced weapons and defense systems, even replicating machines were dead.  The government which had been re-established under the military was holding down control in the major cities while food riots rampaged over the outskirts.  Internal estimates stated that over a million would be dead inside of a month.  They grossly overestimated their fate.

As the soldiers, police, and rioters clashed, a shadow fell over the city, and for a moment they were reunited as one people.  They were reunited in fear.

The massive starship loomed over the city, eclipsing the tallest buildings.   If there was any question as to its motives, that question was answered as soon as it opened fire on the city.  Skyscrapers tumbled into the streets as hundreds of explosions erupted. There was no defense and no place to hide from the onslaught.  Over the next two days, the giant ship roamed the planet, exterminating the citizens of Firste before leaving their once prosperous world a smoking ruin.

The ship left orbit and set course for a bright blue star.
