Personality Profile

Samuel loves being a Starfleet Marine. Especially one from Obsidian Fleet! Well known throughout the Federation as a training ground for those wanting to be at the “front lines” of deep space exploration. In boot camp as well as in officer training it was a tough grueling experience. It was meant to be. Learning all the protocols, learning how to be a Marine. How to think like one and how to act like one really impressed him. Promoted to Squad Leader after four months of training he is a natural born leader. Intelligent and a burning desire to see new worlds and promote the ideals of the Federation to worlds that are still suppressed by slavery, servitude or oppressive governments, Samuel knew Obsidian Fleet was the right choice.

Typically, in a state of constant scruffiness. He has a fast growing beard and develops a “five o’clock shadow” just about noon. He has a good build and is lean but not lanky. Muscular, but not a body builder. He enjoys keeping in shape and frequently uses the ships gymnasium. He has bright blue eyes and an infectious smile that can warm up a room. He has a great laugh and is witty. He is a good Marine and a good friend. The kind of guy you want in a fight watching your back. He is honest and forthright and knows how to treat a lady. Sam loves sport and a good joke and admires an intelligent mind over just brute force. He’d rather use his brains to get out of a situation than just ramrod anything through. Of course, that’ll work too if the situation calls for it.

Accused of having more balls than brains. Sometimes the best way out of a fight is not to fight; but to think. This earned him high marks during his training as a Marine and as an officer. He was awarded rank of 2nd Lieutenant after an accident during a mission on the MANLEY. He knows that in all working relationships one must work as a team to be effective. Samuel values his squad and knows that without them you don’t have a working Marine Department. He encourages teamwork and respect.

Early years Biography

Born on Pacifica to George and Emma, he is their second child. His father is a line worker at the Starfleet Underwater Craft Labs. His mother, a cook for the local Jail. Sam has two siblings. Joanna is the eldest at 38 she is very lovely and works for the Federation Colonial Government in the Council Administrator’s Office. Barclay, the youngest. Sam is somewhat of a disappointment to the rest of the family. Not quite fitting in and far too reckless and stupid risk taking for Dad and Mom. This causes tension and Sam tends to just stay away from family topics.

Pacifica was hard hit by the Borg invasion. He almost lost both his parents during the attack when he was younger and it was Starfleet Marines who fought bitterly in the defense of the colony. A battalion of Marines has been stationed on the planet to provide extra security. As a young boy Sam had a real respect for that and it was a childhood dream to grow up to be a Starfleet Marine. His first posting was to the USS MANLEY a science and research vessel that had a platoon of Marines aboard providing security. It was not how he anticipated starting his career. The MANLEY was not a ship to see “action” on. It was a research vessel. As such it was cataloguing and tagging known astronomical markers and various archaeological finds for further study. However, on one occasion some of the crew of the MANLEY were on a routine mapping survey. Some “freedom fighters” from the planet they were studying took some of the survey team as hostages until their planetary government acceded to their demands. They did not and the survey team was in danger. The called the Marines and the 107th came to answer the call. It was tense for a while, but they went in and rescued the survey team, disabled the “freedom fighters” from the base camp and restored the order of the place. There were no injuries and no fatalities. It was a textbook example of how to “negotiate” a hostage situation. For that, he was given a recommendation to a larger posting and a command. He put in a transfer request hoping to get posted to the USS TAURUS. Instead, he was posted to a land based colony called HYPATIA.
