Character Profile - Keon Seong

Keon Seong
Human Non-binary

Place of Origin: Earth

Physical Description

Keon keeps a clean cut appearance, as per Starfleet rules and regulations. His black hair is always cut short, though from time to time is seen in different colors (depending on science experiments involved). And he almost always is seen with a small, golden lensed set of goggles around his neck. Standing at around 5’11” (just under 182 cm), he displays himself as he supposes most Starfleet officers want to be seen; standing upright and confident.

Personality Profile

Keon is what one would call a people watcher. He will involve himself in conversations if needed, but if he finds that if he can sit in the back and watch, he will. When he is involved in conversation, he tends to be socially awkward and relies on his humor to back himself up. He is quite fond of his puns, a fact that has gotten him into a confrontation more times than he would care to admit.

While he is not the most social of butterflies, he does remain cool-headed in the face of most situations, at least when it comes to his reactions. He has learned to be very mechanical when it comes to decisions he has made, and as such has become quite tactless when it comes to voicing his opinions.

Despite his analytical nature and awkwardness socially, he does make attempts to do more than observe. When he does, however, it does tend to be in a familiar arena, such as where he can discuss things on the spirit worlds of all sorts of races and beliefs. Sometimes, he does so in such a manner that it may come off as unsettling.

Early years Biography

Born last of three Seong children, Keon had quite a shadow to live under. His sister, Min, excelled greatly in scientific endeavors while his brother, Haneul, was an athletic sort. Both his siblings ended up in Starfleet well before Keon was out of elementary school, so the expectation was high that he followed suit. And he did, excelling in his early school years enough to pass the Academy’s tests with a number of recommendations.

But it was not until the Academy and freedom from his parents’ pressures that he decided to let his flag fly. While his inquisitive nature got him in loads of trouble, it was his eerie silence that had him under the radar with most of the Academy’s staff. He did catch the ire of one of his science instructors, who took the opportunity upon Keon’s graduation to get him assigned to a post that was in the far reaches of the Alpha Quadrant.

History

His first assignment was on a ship called the USS Fargo – aptly named only in pun. While it was a mostly uneventful experience, he discovered a strange unexplained blip out in the farther reaches. Most of his compatriots determined that said blip was an unexplained phenomena and left it at that, but Keon was not satisfied. Instead, he kept monitoring it in his spare time. But he would never truly discover what it was, logging the information he took for later contemplation. It, as well as many other strange phenomena out in the Alpha Quadrant were what propelled him into his desire to reach out to the paranormal.

The next assignment was upon a colony garrison ship, recommended by his former Chief of Science. This was due to the colony’s issues with an unattackable nuisance which seemed to invade everything in the systems upon the colony itself. When he arrived, he set right to work, and was able to explain away the phenomena as a new form of life that lived in the subspace surrounding the system. This turned his paranormal fascination on its head, and he dove deeper into the science of it all. He wrote many a paper detailing his discoveries, but it would all fall on deaf ears.

But he continued on with his work, happy to be left alone with his work for the most part. However, one wrong call was made on an away team mission to a pre-warp planet. After disobeying his direct officer, despite making the right call, he was given one final chance by the Garrison ship’s captain, he was recommended for assignment as the Chief Science Officer of the USS Hou Yi.
