Early years Biography

Nailah was born on the USS Harbin. When she was three, her parents took tenured teaching positions with a cultural studies school in the Caitian city of Aemo’ikazoa. She spent much of her childhood camping, surfing, and sailing, and learned traditional techniques for oceanic navigation that did not require technology. She also also enjoying tactical shooter hologames and entered multiple tournaments as a late teen. Being the daughter of an exobiologies and an archeologist, she was naturally drawn to the sciences. She joined Starfleet Academy, Cait and chose to specialize in mapping the stars that she had used for navigation on many adventures in her wind canoe.

She graduated as one of the top students in her class, earning her the affectionate nickname of “Hokulani”, or “heavenly star”, from her parents, and began her career on the USS Aotearoa. She served for 3 years, conducting extensive research on rouge singularities in the Beta Quadrans and eventually rose to the head of the Aoteaora’s Stellar Cartography department. She transferred to the USS Hood, where she began a relationship with a Zami surgeon named Krezna Yemmask. She had 2 children with Krezna: N’Gere and Druzea. Krezna was later killed during an away mission to provide emergency medical aid to victims of a landslide on planet SR-388; a second landslide buried the away team alive.

During her tour with the hood, she demonstrated an ability to lead teams and manage projects, which saw her rise to the rank of Assistant Deputy Chief Science Officer. As her tour came to a close, she saw an opening for a Chief Science Officer, and decided to go for it.
