End of the Year Awards are a “People’s Choice” style of award. At the close of every year, Obsidian Fleet holds a nomination submission period open to the entire membership followed by a fleet-wide popular vote on the nominees.

OF Spotlights (News Items)
Fleet Featurettes in the news! Is there a post you loved reading or a character you found fascinating? You can spotlight it in a special news item. Spotlights don’t have to only feature the ‘most active’ or perceived ‘best of the best’. They can also be about discovery and sharing surprising or curious aspects of storytelling and gameplay. Spotlighting quality aspects in both likely and unlikely to be noticed places can bring out the best in one another by encouraging others who might otherwise feel overlooked for their unique contributions.

POST SPOTLIGHT
The suggested format for a Post Spotlight is to write a paragraph introducing the post with a kind of preamble to lead the reader in, and then to proceed to share the featured post within the Spotlight, as well as to link to the original post. Is the post you want to feature a JP that included your own work? Don’t be shy! Honor the other players too by sending it in.
CHARACTER SPOTLIGHT
Similarly, Characters can be featured by writing an introduction about the character and sharing the biography with a link to the original, as well as three to five linked posts which feature the character. Obsidian Fleet loves to see interesting Supporting Characters just as much as we enjoy a great Main Character. NPCs and mission specific characters are welcome, although it’s best if there is some biography and/or posts that can be linked. Don’t forget a character image if there is one!
GAME/MISSION SPOTLIGHTS
For games or missions, try to provide substantial descriptions, explanations and where possible, related images (mission banners, sim badges, location shots etc) and links to sample pages and posts on the game’s site. Try to write the feature in such a way as to help readers outside of the game be drawn in to the happenings of the game!
Anyone can send in a Spotlight at any time!
Ask anyone on the Fleet Council (JFC, Group Director, Lore & Tech, Web Admin etc) to lend you a hand in putting together a Spotlight.
Front-end site submission form for news is not currently available, but those with access to the Site’s WordPress Dashboard can submit or assist others in submitting. We’ll work on streamlining this; In the meantime, don’t let it stop you from sending up a Spotlight!
