July was a great month for Obsidian Fleet and for the three of us here in the Triadic corner office. We’ve made a lot of great progress this month, so here are the highlights.
1 – Obsidian Day!
We had a great turn out this year for our 4th Annual Obsidian Day. If you missed it, feel free to look through the #obsidian-day-2020 and #obsidian-day-2020-discussion channels.
If anyone missed it, or you just want to watch again (let’s be honest, they are pretty awesome) here are the links to the Welcome video and Thank You video’s by John de Lancie and Mary Chieffo.

2 – Rules / Regulations
The Fleet Council and JFC have done a complete revision of the Fleet Rules and Regulations. This has been a long running project that we’re happy to announce and will share with everyone in a separate news item. This has been a long time in the works and we’re happy to finally deploy this easy to understand, no-nonsense approach to the Fleet rules and Regulations.
A player handbook will be following in the coming months as the Fleet Council continues to refine this together.
Additionally, we’re pleased to announce that Discord has granted Obsidian Fleet’s discord Community Server Status. As a requirement of that status, a list of Discord Server rules has been posted in the #welcome channel. Please take a few minutes to have a look at that.
3 Change in Fleet Council
While not specifically a July item, before we prepared to put out this report there was a change in the Fleet Council. Rear Admiral Harrington resigned his position as TFCO of Task Force 72. We wish him the best in his simming adventures.
Moving forward, we are happy to announce that the Rear Admiral Minawara of the USS Vesta will be taking on the role of Task Force 72 Commanding Officer. Please join us in welcoming him to this new role! Welcome to the Fleet Council!
Lastly, as we discussed in the Obsidian Day Event, there are lots of changes coming for the Fleet at large. New ideas, new platforms and new means of playing. But to start that off, we’re pleased to announce the return of Obsidian Command – a play by Nova Simm where the Joint Fleet Command, Fleet Council and any ship in Obsidian Fleet is welcome to drop by, post with us, build a team and serve on the Starbase or just drop by and see what’s going on. You can find us at http://command.obsidianfleet.net/
Until next month everyone. Happy Simming!
Admiral’s Sepandiyar, DuLac & Ehrestri.
