Task Force 29 Report – March 2021

Two in a row I get the jump on my collegues in 47 & 72. March brought us warmer weather more activities to do outside and a continuation of the trend fleetwide for a return to the stories. It is a boon to see all of the great tales happening across the fleet. It never ceases to amaze me how much creativity is out there if someone simply pays attention. I or one hope that this return to creativity is a microcosm of everyone returning to normalcy as we come out of this pandemic fog.

But that is enough of my blather and my waxing philosophical. So without any gilding the lily and no further ado I give you the state of 29…

Task Force Update

The stories of all our yesterdays continue as we take a look at what is happening across Task Force 29. A station disappeared and its crew no where to be found. This is the hurdle that the USS Defiant faces as it battles time to rescue the crew of Helios 6 Station. Meanwhile the New Hellas Colony is dealing with a plague outbreak. Can the Defiant rescue everyone? The investigation thickens as the Artemis crew interviews the last person to see Commander Raymond Trap alive, The President of the Federation. The question the crew must answer right now is who was the target, The President or Commander Trap? The crew of the Atlantis has found what could be their saving grace. A ship devoid of crew, and fully stocked with the supplies that they so desperately need. The question here though is why do cameras and motion sensors function without anyone to operate them. The merry band of rebels has found the USS Loki adrift in space. They work tirelessly to make it space worthy and bring the good fight home to The Dominion. The Lexington boards her crew and sets out from spacedock for parts unknown. The Lexington is out to prove that Starfleet can return to exploration in the aftermath of the bloody war with the Klingons.

These wonderful stories that take place in timeframes that we know relatively little about or specialize in an area that is hardly explored are just wonderful to read and is a highlight of my month.

Now for sadder news of sorts… This is my final report to you as the Commanding Officer of Task Force 29. It seems that life for me has gotten too hectic for me to continue to lead in the manner in which this fleet deserves. I leave this Task Force in great hands and hope to one day return to lead again.

Have a look at the some of the great positions that are open throughout the Task Force and see if you have what it takes to be a 29er…

What if you could travel to parallel worlds or other timelines? The same year, the same Federation, only different dimensions. A galaxy where the Klingons have taken over the Federation… or where your dreams of making peace with the Romulans… or where Vulcan was a maximum-security prison. There is a gateway, its Task Force 29. Now the question is do you have what it takes to step through.

Unit Of Merit

This month I would like to award the USS Defiant with the March Unit of Merit. Not only is the stories that this sim telling bringing an interest to the Kelvin Universe but they are a fine example of what it means to bring a sim back from the brink. In the past three months there has been a steady rise of both posting and community on their Discord server. Congratulations to the crew of the Defiant and keep up the great work. I look forward to reading your stories.

In Closing

“Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up.” As March arrives in the northern hemisphere and the weather warms let us gather together outside and celebrate all that we are. Let us come together in true Star Trek fashion and celebrate infinite diversity in infinite combinations.

In my review of the sims I am enjoying all of the interesting and creative stories. It is worth mentioning that the sims of Task Force 29 are producing some really powerful stories. Not only are the stories interesting but the websites are visually stunning. Keep up the great work 29ers.

It has been my great honor to serve as the CO of this Task Force. You are all wonderful people and I count each of you among my friends. Until we meet again…
