Task Force 47 Report – August 2019

So, another Task Force Report, eh? Ninth of the year for the Ninth Fleet’s Task Force 47. Took me a whole 5 seconds to come up with that quip! What do you think?

Kidding aside, I’m going to get right into it.

As it currently stands, the state of the Task Force is;

Total Number of Sims: 16
Active Sims: 8
Open Commands: 8
Sims on Hold for CO Candidates: 0

We’ve lost a couple of CO’s this month, unfortunately it couldn’t be helped. We wish them all the best and hope to see them back one day when RL allows. We’ve also, however, got something really cool.

As some of you know and others have no idea because you don’t care for such things, the CO application process changed earlier on this year. It requires that all ships, prior to being launched properly, run through a Shakedown period, which replaced RIO (Restricted Independent Operations) until they have enough crew members and a sufficiently set up site in order to manage to fly solo. During this time, they’re required to be docked at a Starbase.

To this end, in collaboration with JFC, we’ve set up a site specifically for this endeavour. We’ve re-activated Starbase Sirius to serve as a hub for the Task Force, which will provide new CO’s and their crews somewhere to operate from during Shakedown. However, that’s not all.

It will also serve as somewhere that any CO can dock their ship, in order to enable them and their crew to interact IC with members of Task Force Command Staff and other sims crews as well. It is the hope of the Command Team that this will help to build better continuity and interaction between various players and characters within the Task Force, and generally help improve on the social element within the Fleet.

The site for Sirius can be found at http://sirius.utopia-host.com/index.php/main/index and I hope to see many of you there in the coming months!

On the note of our shiny new base for CO’s to visit, the open commands are as follows;

USS Harbinger (Luna Class)
USS Juno (Vesta Class)
USS August (Nova Class)
USS Hercules (Prometheus Class)
USS Livingstone (Nebula Class)
USS Centaurus (Galaxy Class)
USS Cross (Insignia Class)
USS Schrodinger (Merian Class)

As ever, if you have any enquiries regarding any of these open Commands, please feel free to email me at tf47ATobsidianfleetDOTnet. Alternatively, hit me up on Discord at @BenjiMan#5762 and I’ll be happy to discuss the matter with you, whether it is an interest in applying for an open Command, an interest in a Command but not one of the currently available ones or just generally a chat about what we look for.

Now, I’m ashamed to say this month I don’t have any UoM nomination to put forward. It was nice to get one in last month, and I would like to give every single sim a pat on the back for continuing to craft wonderful narratives. The line starts at my office door. Those with magnificent beards get to jump the queue.

And that brings us to the end of this month’s report. Sorry it’s a little late, happy Friday the 13th. May Riker’s beard smile down upon us all.
