Task Force 72 Report |February 2022

How’re you doing?

I know this is the part of the message where I start with a long winded run down of how the Task Force is doing – I promise I’ll get there – but let’s stop that for a second. We are going to take a quick mental health check, stop in and make sure you’re okay. After two long years of COVID-19 being front and centre, we have been plunged head first into a war in Europe with Russian aggression against the sovereignty of Ukraine. None of this takes into account the isolation and loneliness some of you are feeling, or the separation from friends and family, or the simple fact that none of the last two years has been remotely normal.

So once more I wanted to stop and ask, how’re you doing?

I will be the first to admit the wear of this extended “Once in a lifetime event” has started to grate down on me a little, and I am actively spending less time online. I want you to know that that is okay, that you have to look out for yourselves first, and make sure to check in on your fellows.  I have linked some mental health resources from some of the largest nations we interact with (and I am sorry if I missed yours) so that should you need help finding resources, feel free to go look.

Mental Health Resources:

Australia: https://www.health.gov.au/health-topics/mental-health-and-suicide-prevention#:~:text=Almost%20half%20of%20all%20Australian,and%20reduce%20suicide%20in%20Australia.

Canada: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/mental-health-services/mental-health-get-help.html

United States: https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/find-help

United Kingdom: https://www.nhs.uk/mental-health/

Onto the Fleet and Task Force as a whole. We had a slower than average month, with a fair few reporting to me that there are some larger posts in the works and posts that will come to a conclusion sooner rather than later. So with that said, let’s get to the sad bits.

Arrivals, Changes and Departures

The Eagle has decided to close their doors. Her captain has been running the amazing Potemkin, with much of the crew focused on either that or other spots, so the Eagle has fallen to the wayside. And that is okay, we wish them all an exciting adventure in the near future.

Mercutio is looking to revamp her format as well, moving to something a little more… Live! We are going to see that restructuring take place, though she may be a little slow in the coming days leading up to it.
