First: Merry Trekmas! And wishes for a wonderful New Year.

Second, okay, November somehow went right by me, so instead this report is happening year end. Which is just as well since we have a lot to back on. The database was overhauled (twice) along with all of the other great work done on the OF website. This includes a database category called Memory-Obsidian for all of our collective OF specific lore. There were a number of new ships added, and while we’re still getting all of the ships into the new format, all species in the database have been updated for it.

And speaking of that, the Cardassian entry has had a full renovation (thank you Sea of Stars, who also contributed Tellarites to the database). There is also a new entry for Gorn (thank you to everyone on the content team for your input) as well as two species in Memory-Obsidian, the Qoird and Kainans, the latter being a caninoid race of my creation that I offer to any who want them for use as characters (Merry Trekmas). There is also a lovely bit of Caitian lore from Tomaasz on the USS Tanjura and an entry for our non-trek X-Men simm, both of which that I encourage you check out.

We have more lore in the works, including an entry for Borg (a big project given extensive and conflicting lore in canon, so help is welcome). If you have a favorite species that is not already there, let us know and we’ll add and/or bump it up the list. If you have developed your own takes on bits of culture or on subcultures for a species in the database, that’s what Memory Obsidian is for, so please contribute.

We look forward to seeing all the new lore that new seasons of Trek and our members’ vast creativity will bring in the New Year.

As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, you can reach out to me on discord.
