Hello all,
It’s been about a week since some news dropped in the Discord, and I wanted to take a moment now that I am back home to dive a little deeper into it all with you.
As you may or may not have see from Sepandiyar, du Lac has made the decision to end his time with the Joint Fleet Command (or Triad as most call it) and move into a more advisory role. He has been the backbone of Obsidian Fleet for years, far outstretching the work he’s done in the JFC. It means he has more than earned this break to spend more time with his family, being creative, and of course playing Star Trek Online. He’s not going anywhere, and will still be around for a long while, working in the background of the Fleet to support us. Which leads to the answer many of you already know – I’ll be stepping up to fill the role of the third member of the Triad. This means joining Ehestri and Sepandiyar in the day to day running of the Fleet.
I am sure you’ll all have a ton of questions, and there will be plenty of time for answers. The big one are the changes at the Fleet Council level I want to talk about. First and foremost, this opens my role as Game Director (Task Force Commanding Officer) for TF72 and TF13. I have loved working with all of you for the last few years, and I am not going to stop poking in. But going forward you need a more dedicated leader. This means connecting with you, and being able to write beside you. I am pleased to let you know Paul will be stepping into that role. Previously he served as my second in command as Assistant Game Director, and more recently supporting Ehestri in the role of Communication Director. If you report to me, you now report to him, so please give him a big warm welcome.
Paul’s roles will need to shift as well, and while a large portion of them will be shifting back to the JFC, and specifically Ehestri, Cam will be stepping in to support part of this. She’ll be running community writing events, and other events in Discord that I am sure she is excited to share.
Lastly I’ll be filling in part of du Lac’s role in supporting with the website. Feel free to come to me with IFS3 questions as they pop up. I do not have his skill as a web master, or years of experience, so expect me to be a touch slower. I’ll also be taking some of the tech and ship lore load off Cam as she assists with the community, helping keep our overall lore as clear as the North Saskatchewan River.
I am sure there will be more questions and posts from us in the days that come. Feel free to reach out and ask, and to the affected Task Forces reach out to Paul to get connected.
That’s all for now,
– Minawara
