One of these days I’ll get this report out before Task Force 47, but that’s not today and probably not next month either! December is here and the holidays are in full swing. I’m, as usual, pleased with the activity of the Task Force as a whole and the results of our audit conducted by my counterpart. Suffice to say, aside from a few privacy policy issues, we’re in a strong position headed into the new year. We’ll be reaching out to sims as we head into 2019 to see how we can help our Commanding Officers succeed.

Task Force Status

2018 was a strong year for Task Force 72. While we all had some growing pains with the new Obsidian Fleet website and the introduction of new data privacy rules, we’ve picked up several great new Commanding Officers and simulations that I look forward to seeing grow and develop over the next year. While we did have some departures over the course of the year, I’m confident that Task Force 72 will continue to produce great writing and exciting ideas across our simulations.

In addition, we’ve updated the Task Force listings to reflect the smaller Task Group sizes. I want to encourage all players to consider joining a simulation before applying for the center chair. We have great commanding officers in Task Force 72, old and new, who could use the talents of motivated and story-driven writers.

Awards

This month I’m pleased to announce a Unit of Merit Award for the crew of the SS Mary Rose. Her Commanding Officer and crew write in one of the fleet’s unique, non-Starfleet settings. It’s always a delight to see what they’re cooking up over there. Her Commanding Officer is to be commended for continuing to lead her simulation while taking on additional fleet responsibilities. In words of a fellow TGCO:

For this month, I feel that the SS Mary Rose deserves the award. The crew has been through so much recently. Speaking from experience, the real life passing of a player is difficult. That difficulty is amplified when real life issues have pulled other key players away. However, I find it admirable that the crew has continued to move forward and the Captain has held things together. On top of that, their posting quality has stayed at their normal great level even if the numbers are a bit down. Once they regain their footing, I am excited to see where their adventures take them.

So congrats to the SS Mary Rose on a job well done for November! I want to wish everyone in Task Force 72 and beyond happy holidays and a happy new year! Best of luck to everyone and I look forward to seeing you all around chat and the fleet.
