Well, well, well—I’m back doing these monthly updates again! This is news item 167 of mine since IFS2 started in 2017.
Before I dive into a refresh on comms, I want to take a moment to shout out my predecessor.
Paul did an amazing job as Communications Director for our community. He really fought for the community and helped move us forward. I know he’s going to be an incredible leader for our game masters in 72 and 13, guiding our prime Trek areas. He’s full of ideas and enthusiasm, and I can’t wait to see what he does next.
So, what does comms do?
- Engage with the fleet community
- Promote the Fleet via social media
- Recruitment on a fleet level
- Look after the fleet-level award systems
- Create content for YouTube
- Competitions
- Events – Obsidian Day and Khitomer
Community Engagement Champions
On reflection, as I settle back into the role of Comms Lead, I’m opening the floor to anyone interested in becoming a Community Engagement Champion. Over the last three years, we’ve lost many champions as they moved up into Fleet Council positions, and we’re now down to just one remaining champion, Jillbn. This has happened before since the role was introduced in 2017, but it has left the team very limited. If you think you have what it takes to join the team, let me know!
Discord Community
If you did not know that we have an amazing Discord community, then this is your time to check it out. We’ll also be running monthly competitions there, starting with a meme-making contest. Come join the fun, share your creativity, and connect with others.
If you did not know, we also manage the following social media accounts.
